Juniors Welcome

Welcome to our Junior Home Page.

We offer golfing opportunities to juniors of all ages (from six years old) with a range of coaching options (through Ian Bailey of GolfPartner.com) and competitions of all ages and abilities. Following the appoinment of Mandy Gamble as our Junior Organiser, we are looking to expand the golfing opportunities for all junior golfers at the club and beyond.

Additionally, we take part in the Junior League run by the Leicestershire & Rutland Golf Union where we compete against other clubs in the county.

We take our responsibilities relating to junior golfers very seriously and we have achieved accreditation in relation to England Golf's SafeGolf policies. Those policies with regard to safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerbale Adults are availble upon request (Members can find them in the Rules & Policies Section in the Member's Area of the website).

As far as membership is concerned, there are three stages to our Junior Membership Pathway;-

STAGE 1

Applies to all juniors under the age of 18 interested in learning more about the game of golf and not yet having achieved a handicap.

  • The junior will attend a series of coaching sessions provided either by Ian Bailey or an external coach designed to prepare the junior for the challenges provided by a golf course.
  • When the coach is satisfied the junior is competent to start working towards a handicap notification will be sent to the Junior Organiser, Club Manager and Professional. An outside coach can provide the club with the same assurance either via email or letter.
  • The Junior will then have access to the course during non- competition times provided they play with an adult or junior member of the Golf Club.
  • The Junior will be able to take part in flag 50 competitions.
  • To achieve a handicap an appropriate number of cards must be entered, the card signed by an adult member of the club or a junior with a handicap of 36 or less.
  • The junior annual fee will be adjusted pro rata.

STAGE 2

Applies to all juniors under the age of 18 who have achieved a handicap of between 28 – 54 (World Handicap system maximum).

  • It is expected that coaching will continue either with Ian Bailey or an external coach to progress competence.
  • A junior with a handicap of 36 or less is eligible to take part in the junior competitions, both club, Sunday Junior Medal, and Stableford according to any eligibility criteria.
  • A junior with a handicap of 36 or less is eligible to be considered to represent the club in the County League Matches by being part of the Junior Team.
  • The junior will have access to the course except during adult competitions.
  • Progression of the junior handicap is via competition cards and general play provided the card is signed by an adult member of the golf club or any junior members that have achieved a handicap of 36 or less.
  • When the junior has reached a handicap of 27, they will move to Stage 3.
  • The junior annual fee will be adjusted pro rata.
